In the early ‘90s, Las Olas was transformed from a sleepy, quaint street to a vibrant destination by several new restaurants and clubs. However, the top tier retailers were unable to enter this market because of well-entrenched property owners and tenants operating non-retail, daytime only businesses.
Amera pursued properties on this street for purchase with knowledge that aggressive re-tenanting and renovation would bring business operating at an entirely different level of sophistication, sales and rents. Amera demonstrated that Las Olas was viable for something more than antique stores. In 1999, with Amera’s introduction of Tommy Bahama and Bang & Olufosen, other national tenants such as The Cheesecake Factory, Restoration Hardware and Chico’s followed on the street.
In recent years, there has been a resurgence due to Amera’s redevelopment and introduction of popular retailers which has increased the rents and demands on the street. Fronting half a city block, this 20,600 square-foot retail restaurant center is home to one of the Boulevard’s premier restaurants, Louie Bossi Ristorante and has attracted a new tenant roster including bluemercury, Tommy Bahama and Jamali Art Gallery, providing a mix and uniqueness that makes the pedestrian-friendly center a draw.
